What is an “impulse sealer”?
An impulse sealer is a handy tool that seals bags or plastic wrap. They come in various lengths. Prices range from around $50 to a few hundred dollars and up.
What does an Amazon FBA seller use an impulse sealer for?
- sealing CDs, DVDs, VHS.
- sealing anything that requires to be wrapped per Amazons guidelines.
- sealing game parts/pieces for collectible board games.
- sealing game boxes instead of using rubber bands or regular ‘ol cling wrap.
Do I NEED an impulse sealer?
This is another one of these FBA tools that is a nicety – not a necessity.
Using an impulse sealer does make for a much nicer presentation of your item to the customer. And using one does speed up your work flow too.
If you find that you are wrapping or bagging a lot of items, then saving up to purchase an impulse sealer is a great thing to do.
Which Impulse Sealer Does Debra Use?
Debra initially started out doing her “poor man’s” version of shrink wrap which you can learn more about in her article about preparing collectible games.
Now she uses a 16″ impulse sealer with 75 gauge film from Durapack.
Rob Anderson from DollarMoves.com shows us how he uses his Impulse Sealer:
What Does Beth Use?
Beth still uses her “poor man’s” version of an impulse sealer – an old food saver type sealer that she bought at a thrift store for a couple of bucks! She uses this a lot for small items like game pieces. She uses regular ziplock type bags and sizes them to fit using the sealer. It works for now. When she starts processing more items that need shrink wrap or to be bagged she will invest in an impulse sealer like Debra’s.
Don’t forget to use “Suffocation Warning Labels” on any bags that have a 5″ opening or larger (per Amazon’s rules that you can read more about here).
