We ALL love to find large quantity’s of products at the Big Box Stores… they are so easy to list on Amazon and ship into Amazon FBA.
The clearance areas often have piles of the same product BUT don’t overlook things that are NOT on clearance/sale.
Recently I was in a Big Box store (during my recent trip to see Danni Akerman in Las Vegas) and found piles of several products I buy regularly and sell on Amazon.
These products are selling fast for me! Some of them I can re-order right on the stores website, and some I can only source at local stores.
If I was only buying a few things… I might not bother with the whole “buying without paying Sales Tax” process. When I am spending over $500 in one store… I will certainly go through the effort.
I saved $50 in this one store… just because I took the time/effort to ASK!
Yet… I won’t always buy this way. I have my days where it will take to much time/effort and the product is selling for a high enough return that it won’t make that much difference. (I value my time).
It makes no difference to the “tax man”… if you do or do not pay sales tax. You are still required to fill out the forms and pay any sales tax owed to every state that you are required to collect for. The BIG difference is that when you pay sales tax to the states… the customer has actually paid this for you. Amazon collects this tax for you. If you are collecting it (via Amazon) then you are required to pay that $ amount out to the various states.
In essence… you will save (sometimes very big $) every time you shop for inventory in big box stores.
AND collecting and paying out sales tax for the products you have sold on Amazon isn’t a fee out of your pocket… the actual customer is paying you those $ – you then move those dollars out of your income (because it isn’t yours anyway) and pay it to the respective states.
Sound confusing? It’s not… and I have the easy answers right here for you:
